"In a world where the moments of our lives can be captured and created in art of the everyday,
it’s important it reflects our own unique personality. Finding just the right objects, accents, and tools to use are most important. Whatever your artistic vision is, exploring the imaginative is a chance for our creativity to escape understanding. Remember life isn’t about finding yourself
- life is about creating yourself."

Our lives are busy. There's work, networking and socializing (both for business and pleasure), responsibilities like getting the car's oil changed or cleaning the house, errands to run... hundreds of things pulling us in all directions at all times. Some believe that what we choose to do with our time is what defines us; and, even though we don't always have the privilege of being able to choose, what we do at our leisure is our own decision to make.
This weekend, take a bit of time to contemplate your sense of self. Imagine yourself in another time period and/or place. There are no limitations; you can be as fantastical as you please. Where and when does your imagination take you? What would your day-to-day life be like? What would you choose to do with your time there? It is often said that the best way to be true to yourself in what you make is to make things that you, yourself, would love and wear always. What would your work look like if you could follow your imagination to that place and/or time period?
Try to make something inspired by these musings. What sorts of materials would you use? Why? How does the piece capture your own personality as it is, but also become something more---capturing the spirit of the world or time period to which you ventured in your mind?

I have been musing over how I spend my time... today seems to get sucked into tomorrow and I need to regain some control over it! I would be in a house on the beach... creating something and watching the wild life... and watching for mermaids! Maybe find a treasure chest that would open with that key!
Lovely idea. I have been thinking about what to do with the wool I just dyed (BTW Kool-Aid makes wonderful dye colors but I don't know how colorfast it is) and now I have a few ideas....
Life is a fantasy, it all blends together. Who's to know? Thank you for visiting my blog this morning, Gem Trails, for Bead Soup. I am now following your posts.
I blogged at Gem Trails, http://gemtrails.blogspot.com/2011/03/giveaway-at-jamberrysongs-creations.html
The piece that is really capturing me right now is a beaded abalone cabochon. It really captures my love of the ocean and reminds me sadly of what once was. http://gemtrails.blogspot.com/2011/03/loving-this-pendant.html

This is a perfect post for my current mood too!! I recently watched the movie Pride & Prejudice (loved it!) and I was taken to a different time. I really wanted to create a piece that was romantic and reminiscent of the time...so I created the following 3 pieces...

I blogged about your giveaway on my blog frenchelegantjewelry.blogspot.com
What a thought...to imagine ourselves in another time period. As much as I go antiquing, I am constantly drawn to the many pieces from the Victorian time period. Jewelry and photographs are prevalant since this was a mere 100 years ago or so, as compared to other time periods. Including an old brooch, a key, or even an old tintype are a few ways to incorporate this time period in my jewelry.
As I was reading a history lesson to my children, we learned that to live in India during the middle ages was to live in a world of excitement, luxury, and discovery. I also think that the world we live in today can have the same adjectives apply to it. I also am grateful for all the blessings of my daily life. However, I would love to at least visit the world of Frodo and Gandalf!
Thanks so much for the giveaway!
I love the ingredients of the mix you are giving away- The key to sucess in the future is to watch what we are sowing now- You reap what you sow. Even lifetimes later we pay the price for past generations......Just think of slavery for one..........
Alice's Beads and Baubles
15th Century is my favorite period, I love the Book of Hours! The illuminated manuscripts on your blog really caught my eye! I love the components you are giving away, too.
Great ideas! Creating the world you want to live in, one little bit at a time. But I can get so caught up in the day-to-day rush that it's hard to stop to think and consider.
I love your illuminated manuscripts! My husband and I have a small collection of facsimiles. One of my favorite it a slim volume called "King Rene's Book of Love". Beautiful illustrations.
