But for now, I want to reminisce. I want to remember summer. This year's was a hot one, hotter than most. We were able to travel a good deal, and explore the woodlands around western New York state. We were also able to travel beyond these shores and forests to others in New England. I've taken pictures along the way and would love to share them with you now. Remember summer with me before we bid farewell 'til next year.
This is Tolland State Forest, Massachusetts, along the beautifully scenic Farmington River.
Like New England, we in western New York have a vast coastline. Only it is fresh water that laps at our shores. Ontario, great lake... you might think you were looking at the sea; you may squint at the far shore, but it is just beyond sight along most of the lake. This was at sunset on a rainy day; the light broke through the clouds on the horizon in odd but breathtaking ways.
Goodbye, dear warm summer. Until next year, but may your images and your memories continue to inspire us through the long, cold months ahead. :)
How are all of you remembering your summer? Did you do anything magnificent and inspiring during those months? What did you accomplish?

Nature's first green is gold,
her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower,
but only so an hour;
then leaf subsides to leaf,
so Eden sank to grief,
so dawn goes down to day;
nothing gold can stay.
- Robert Frost
I realize I accidentally turned on the "sunset" setting on my camera for several of the pictures I took at Tolland State Forest; hence the overbearing yellow saturation. Must open those files up and bring the yellow levels back down. They look unreal as they are.
Wow, such beautiful photos!!
I'm in Texas, so summer will stick around until the middle of next month. I do look forward to fall though... summer here is not nice at all!!
Beautiful photos. Still hot in Virginia, almost 100 today, hopefully we will have some beautiful fall weather soon.
